The Day Of The Charter - What to Expect
We want your white sturgeon fishing adventure with Black Swan Adventures to be seamless and enjoyable. Below is a guide on what you can expect when you join us for your trip.
Check-In Process:
- Arrival Time and Location: We meet at Cayoosh Creek Campground boat launch at 9:00 AM. The trip will last for a full 8 hours, with fishing and exploration until 5:00 PM. Please note that cell service coming into Lillooet is limited, so plan your route ahead of time and ensure you have everything you need before arriving.
- Safety Briefing: Upon arrival, we’ll provide a quick safety briefing, including an overview of the boat’s features, safety equipment, and itinerary for the day. This ensures that all passengers are comfortable before we head out for a day of catching monster sturgeon.
What to Bring:
- Clothing: Please ensure that all passengers bring shorts for getting in and out of the water with the fish for photos. We also recommend sandals or shoes that can easily be taken on and off, as they may get wet. It’s always a good idea to bring a rain jacket, sunscreen, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the elements, whether it’s sunny or rainy.
- Essential Items: All you need to bring is a valid BC Freshwater fishing license (obtain one here), any snacks, and any drinks besides water. We’ll provide coolers stocked with ice and water to keep you hydrated throughout the day.
Onboard Experience:
- Boat Amenities: Our 22’ North River jet boat is equipped with a shade umbrella, misting fan, portable BBQ, Bluetooth stereo, and coolers with ice and water to keep everyone comfortable. We’ll also have trout fishing rods available if you’d like to try catching smaller fish during the trip.
- Lunch on the Beach: While lunch has no set time, we always take a break to grill on a private beach while continuing to fish. The sturgeon love when we start grilling, and the action heats up! Lunch on the beach is always an exciting part of the day.
Photography and Post-Trip Package:
- We’ll capture photos of your catches and the best moments throughout the day. For more details on how we handle photos, please refer to our Media Policy.
- After the trip, we provide all our guests with a post-trip package, which includes an email with a link to a shared Google Drive folder containing all your photos, a trip report, and occasionally other goodies like coupons or merchandise giveaways. Additionally, we have QR code stickers on the boat that link directly to our Google review page. We’ll also kindly ask for referrals in the post-trip package to help spread the word about your incredible experience.
Fishing and Handling Sturgeon:
- Fishing Techniques: Once on the water, we’ll guide you through the proper techniques for catching white sturgeon. You don’t need any prior experience—our crew will teach you everything you need to know.
- Catch and Release: All white sturgeon are catch-and-release only. Our team will show you the proper handling techniques to ensure the fish are safely returned to the water after your catch. For more information on white sturgeon, see our White Sturgeon Species Information page.
Wrap-Up and Departure:
- End of the Day: After a full day of fishing, we’ll return to Cayoosh Creek Campground boat launch at 5:00 PM. We’ll provide any final information, including how to access your photos and a link to review your experience with us online.
